Triage and Treatment of the Anorexic Small Herbivore

Program Description: Anorexia is one of the most common presenting complaints for veterinary care of rabbits, guinea pigs, and chinchillas. This program will review how the stability of these patients can be quickly assessed, and an initial diagnostic work-up and treatment plan undertaken. Key points will include the importance of rectal thermometry, clinical signs of pain, diagnostic findings that should prompt emergency treatment or referral, and initial fluid and analgesic therapies.
